Place de la Ferronnerie, 56200 La Gacilly

The 20th edition of La Gacilly Photo Festival has opened its doors! Among the 20 photographers selected for this anniversary edition entitled "Nature as a Legacy": Sacha Goldberger and Vee Speers.

    Sacha Goldberger:
Announced all over the city by dozens of posters, it is under large green oaks that the alien invasion of Sacha Goldberger takes place. The French photographer presents "I Want to Believe" and "Extra Not So Terrestre", metaphors of a land ravaged by its inhabitants in search of a saving planet. Photographs "hallucinated that have the taste of the real, the smell of real motels, the nonchalance of real aliens galore..." according to Alexandre Jardin (preface of the book Alien Love, published by Revelatoer, 2022)

    Vee Speers:
At the entrance of the city, on huge formats hung on the front of the houses, the Australian artist Vee Speers presents a selection of works from four different series (Dystopia, Phoenix, Thirteen and Transcendance). An exploration of Vee Speers' reflection on the female body: its evolution, its rebirth sometimes and especially its relationship with the natural world. Never afraid to push the boundaries, she takes us on an emotional journey with portraits closely associated with the forces of nature, at the crossroads of nostalgia and contemporary.

Created in 2004, the Festival Photo La Gacilly offers each of its 310,000 annual visitors an immersive experience in the heart of thirty open-air galleries and in large format, presenting the best of contemporary photo creation in a permanent concern of great artistic requirement. The canvases, sometimes 70 square meters, adorn the streets, gardens and alleys of La Gacilly, transformed into a Ā«village in imagesĀ», whose magnificent built heritage offers a perfect setting for the more than 1000 images exhibited as much as it is valued by the works of the photographers presented. The public space becomes a stage space, shared and accessible to all, free of charge. The Festival can thus claim to be followed by a faithful public of connoisseurs as much as by a complete audience of neophytes. It benefits from its varied audiences a strong and constant sympathy capital.
