"Seeking the Sun"

"Seeking the Sun is a poetic and visual quest, a return to our origins, to the first light. It is a sensory exploration through photography, textiles, drawing, and video, to rediscover that initial wonder, that of a child discovering the world. My first trip to Corsica, at the age of one month, undoubtedly marks the moment when the first colors of the world appeared to my still-new eyes.

Corsica, a real and dreamt-of land, is for me an inner refuge, a space of freedom and abandonment. Coming from the diaspora, I always went there to leave again. Through my comings and goings, I have built up a sensitive and fragmentary memory of this place.

This place gave me my first experiences of beauty, my first moments of contemplation, a living material that I wanted to translate into images.

Through this project, I seek to reconnect with a contemplative, non-productivist gaze, open to reverie. My images are visual caresses, splashes of light, intimate landscapes shaped by the sea, the sun, winding roads, and changing skies. They bear witness to an inner territory that is both tangible and elusive.

Some works are embroidered, perforated, unraveled, or printed on fabric; others are evanescent, such as images on organza or altered Polaroids. They evoke memory, erosion, and fragility, while maintaining a strong presence in the world. It is an attempt to keep alive that sense of wonder, that light of childhood, as a poetic refuge from a world that is falling apart.

Part of this work was produced during my Excellence des Métiers d'Arts residency, in partnership with the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône and the Émiland Gauthey high school. It will soon be presented in group and solo exhibitions".
