Blurring the lines between between subjective and objective, between truth and illusion: the work inhabits a median zone that lies between.
The work explores ways of connecting our human desire to understand and imagine what lies outside our immediate perception.
By tapping into the aesthetics of nostalgia and connecting that to what appears to be a historical record, our subjective memory imagines worlds outside our own. Worlds that have long disappeared and worlds that are yet to be fully formed. -

Biography
USA , 1955
“To create these unique, one of a kind images I begin with a central idea or intention. I describe this as if recalling a fading dream, hanging on to its fleeting memory. I use generative AI to further refine the poetics of this notion which generates a seed of a work or a visual notion. I then apply stylistic approaches more akin to sculpting. I remove elements, add to them, rework them and distill the visual outputs as inputs are emphasized or weighted, changed, blended and then digitally painted. In this flow: I find myself in a kind of syncopated relationship with my own photography, historic photographic techniques and modern printing techniques and materials. I use a host of digital tools that encompass generative sensibilities and tools. They include Dalle 3, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Leonardo, GPT4o, Photoshop, Topaz, Luminar, and Magnific. And finally, I adjust the overall tonality to embrace the specific feel of the final material - in this case glass, focusing on how light refracts and reflects off the surfaces and the inks. I explore ways of creating that deepen the emotional reaction to the work, using history, memory, and fiction fused in a what appears to be a scientific method and its photographic record.”
Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1955, Jeremiah Chechik studied theatre and film at Mcgill University. Jeremiah Chechik has been an early innovator in laser holography, a fashion photographer for Italian Vogue, as well as an award winning commercials, film and television director and producer. His name is on multiple patents, having pioneered streaming video on the internet. Utilizing multiple generative programs and tools to evoke our collective sense of cosmic wonder, he presents views of and from other strange worlds. Chechik constantly compares and contrasts the way we used to see and the way we see now, underscoring the cognitive frameworks embedded within the visual conventions of different eras and our own collective memory.
His works have been exhibited in many museums, including the Museum of Art and Design Buenos Aires, The Venice Institute of Contemporary Art (California) and currently a solo show of his Explorers series at the Stamford Museum (Connecticut).
