"FOTO RIO 2025 : Mulheres, identidades e meio ambiente – uma cartografia sensível"
from Wednesday, September 10, 2025 to Wednesday, November 5, 2025
Centro Cultural da Justiça Federal, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The France/Brazil Season is an invitation to exchange and dialogue on the themes of identity, climate, and ecological transition.

In this spirit, the exhibition “Mulheres: identidade e meio ambiente — Uma cartografia sensível,” curated by Jean-Luc Monterosso and Ioana Mello, brings together five artists: Carolina Tabet, Alice Pallot, Flora Nguyen, Sophie Zénon, and Karen Paulina Biswell. Together, through unique territories and stories, they open up a space where each artist, using photography as a starting point, questions our relationship with the world.
Alice Pallot's cursed algae on the Brittany coast, Sophie Zénon's resilience of Lorraine's blue-eyed grass, Karen Paulina Biswell's Brugmansia insignis from Andean communities, Flora Nguyen's global warming in Corfu and the Marquesas Islands, and Carolina Tabet's depiction of the catastrophic consequences of the August 4, 2020 explosion in the port of Beirut, all fuel a reflection on the need to change our relationship with nature.

Faced with major ecological challenges, these artists, by broadening our perspective and opening up the image to observation and study, remind us that we are part of the living world and that we must therefore urgently rethink our place in it.
