"Présence"
from Saturday, April 4, 2026 to Sunday, October 4, 2026
Campredon art & image, Isle sur la Sorgue
Building on the theme of “Dream” and the sense of weightlessness from previous editions, the theme of the 2026 exhibition at CAMPREDON art & image continues this journey into the realm of the imagination. As visitors navigate a path between the real and the intangible, a new story unfolds, in which what lies beyond the frame takes center stage. “PRESENCE” thus offers a new creative opportunity to the 26 contemporary artists featured in the exhibition, including works by Anja Niemi , Patrizia Mussa, Ziquian Liu, Sophie Zénon and Christopher Thomas. A polysemic “PRAESENTIA” that promises a wealth of representations and questions about our humanity, our journey through space and time, our imprint, and even our EXISTENCE.
The artist’s very compelling PRESENCE in the world, in a state of wakefulness, invites the viewer to open—or close—their eyes and imagine, to reveal the invisible. It guides us, within a poetic paradox, toward a silent story in which the ABSENT* takes on its full meaning. Set apart from the clamor, this “mindfulness” of the relationships between being and space, between the body and the landscape, plays with the passing of time... Through a sensitive and spiritual PRESENCE embodied at the heart of the works on display—like a tribute to (falsely) empty spaces—the artists here revive an aesthetic, perhaps fill a void, or bring back to life the fleeting memory of places of remembrance. Humanity possesses the power to ensure the endurance—through anamnesis—the memory of lived experience—of a being, a territory, a moment, an emotion, a vision... the artist provides us with the material for this. The artist thus serves as the conduit who evokes and immortalizes, through the image—whether created in painting, generative art, or photography—the precious vessel of a memory that inevitably fades away.
By prompting reflection on our relationship with others and with ourselves—opening new windows and holding up a mirror to us—this exhibition reveals the imperceptible and invites us to discover hidden realities. In this way, by inviting visitors to engage in introspection, it reinforces the ancient concept of PRAESENTIA: the materiality of a space in front of and around someone or something. -
